It seems that every year around this time, I get the winter blah's.  I have worn all the clothes in my closet that I looked at over summer and said, "I can't wait to wear that sweater", I have had my fill of hot chocolate, smelled enough fires burning in the evenings, and seen enough snow to hold me over for another 10 years.  Saturday it snowed dippin' dots, Sunday it was cold, I don't remember Monday, but Tuesday it rained and rained and rained.  Today I woke up to the dreary fog that reminds me of the setting of "Twilight".  Then all the sudden...just about 1:00pm...as Kim Anne and I were heading out to pick up a yummy sandwich for lunch (Moore Street Market, by the way)... sun, glorious sun, a warmth and beauty, instant happiness and excitement.  It lifted my spirits, it picked up the corners of my mouth, it cause a little skip in my step, it made me happy.

It gave me hope!

Well, off to find my boots and overcoat and head out to the store to pick up soup and grilled cheese for dinner.  Maybe I will even get another box of hot chocolate!

Our clients are our main priorities and concern.  As marketing director, I am responsible for getting the word out, whether it is a new listing, and great deal, or anything a buyer, seller or other interested party may be interested in.  Therefore, the next two days I will be in a new class designed around social media and all the new and improved ways to market on the internet.  So hold on to your seat, we are off!

Tis the Season... Southport Realty had it's Annual Holiday Party yesterday morning and enjoyed the most Fabulous Breakfast Catered at Taylor's!  When I say fabulous, I mean FAN-TAB-U-LOUS!  The kind where you look back and wish you had one more plate, but at the time you were so stuffed there was nowhere to put anymore!  The kind where you say, "Man, I wish I could have that everyday!" The kind where Sausage Gravy Biscuits, Scrambled Eggs, Grits, Sugar Pecan Waffles (My favorite), French toast on REAL French toast, Canadian bacon, sausage and more are served!  Wow, I am still wanting some! 

After breakfast, we all gathered around the Christmas Tree at our new office on North Howe, to enjoy punch and the annual gift giving celebration.  Ok, so yeah, we played Chinese Gift Exchange (or Dirty Santa, as most of us know it as), and let me tell you, we have some really polite agents, but man, get some nice gifts infront of them and it can get downright mean!  No, just kidding, we had a blast!  I enjoyed the coversations and the laughs!  It is so nice to work with an agency where we can feel as close as family. Where we laugh, cry and take care of each other, whatever the situation is.  In this world, that is really hard to find.  I will be happy to keep all my Southport Realty family in my prayers over this Christmas Season.  God Bless and good health!  Love, Jenny

Today is December 2nd, and it finally feel a little like winter.  I noticed as I was driving to work, even though the sun was shining, there was still a heaviness overhead.  Living here, you will always wake up and have to turn on the news to see what the day will be like, and even then, it can change in an instant. For example driving home from Thanksgiving vacation in Va on Monday, the temperature went from 50 degrees in Greensboro, NC at 5:30pm to 67 degrees in Boiling Spring Lakes, NC at 9:30 pm.  Of course yesterday (Wednesday) I came to work in the morning and by 4 o'clock it had dropped 20 degrees.  Sitting here thinking about what my kids wore to school, shorts, t-shirt, jacket and toboggan, makes me think about an open house I  attended where someone visiting from New England commented on the lack of coat closets in the houses where an agent commented, here we rarely have to wear coats! I have to disagree!  When you are used to 90 degree summers and 72 degree falls...when the 32 degree winters show up like today...I want a coat!

Good news though. the colder winter has put me in the gift buying mood!
